 |  Circa 1909, LS, Adjusted Temp. and 5 positions, Marked Adjusted, 21 Jewels, Sapphire Pallets, RR Grade/Approved, this is a beautiful and much scarcer 18 Size 21 Jewel Ball Hamilton 999 cased in a fancy yellow gold filled Railroad Case. These 18S 21 Jewel Ball Watches are tough to find, especially in this condition and at this price, so look carefully at this one.Case... is a 20 yr Fahy's GF case with a beautifully engraved back. It is in excellent condition, shows no wear thru. Glass Crystal. Look at that crown and bow...still look new! Dial... is original single sunk 18S Hamilton Ball. Has the Ball patent #'s on bottom Perfect...no hairlines! If you know these, then you know how hard it is to find a perfect dial on one...here one is!...Very scarce mint 18S Ball dial. Movement... is marked Adjusted, 21 Jewels, Official RR Standard. Movement on this one must be seen to be appreciated. It is in good condition and running well. Has not been serviced or timed. | ||

| Circa 1940, LS, Adjusted Temperature and 5 Positions, Motor Barrel, gold center wheel, Elinvar Hairspring, RR Grade/Approved, this is a rare example of the very scarce 998E with a mint original porcelain Ball Dial, as nice a movement as you'll ever find on any of these rare birds, and a knockout Wadsworth Ball Model Fancy Stirrup Bow Case! Features of this high grade rarity are: Case... is a 14K White GF Wadsworth Ball Model, the Cadillac of Cases, and when you feast your eyes on this beauty you can certainly see why. It is in like new condition Gorgeous most desirable fancy stirrup bow, and look at that fancy back! This one has been only litely carried, but not worn in service. Tight Bow. Beautiful Wadsworth Fancy Sturrup Bow and Back Ball Model Case Dial... is original Hamilton Ball Porcelain Dial. No imperfections noted. Very clean. Beautiful triple matching blued aquamarine steel original Ball hands. Movement... is in near mint to new condition! Gold center wheel, marked Elinvar under balance. No evidence of scratches rust or abuse anywhere on this one! Black lettering standing out nicely. Winds and runs like new. This movement rivals anything I've ever seen, or have in my personal collection. As with the Illinois Balls, the movement is far and away the most important factor in determining value and collectibility. I would not hesitate one bit to put it in my own safe, and wholeheartedly recommend this one highly. Beautiful example for your collection! The Ball 998 Elinvar is escalating rapidly. Top book shows two stars and is up $400 from last year...now $4400.00. You just don't see these or the 950 Elinvars...they're just not out there. One like this with a superlative movement is a great hedge, and I can say with assurance will continue upward in price from here. Only 3,700 of these were ever produced...three runs of 1000 and one final run of 700 at the end...(this one is the 525th 998 of the last run, 175 from the finish.) Far less than the number of Illinois Ball watches. I have said all along these are worth every bit as much if not more than the Illinois Ball, now it seems to have come true. I actually paid a little more for this one at the last show than I did the Illinois Ball below (some was due to this stunning case, but prices on these 998Es were up across the board.) Like the Illinois Ball, these are costing more every time I find another. If you want a 998E or a Ball Illinois in your collection (and who doesn't) the sooner you buy one, the less you will pay. From what I'm seeing these two are about like gasoline. They are headed to $5000, and soon. There's just not enough of either to go around. For your consideration...A Ball 998 Elinvar in a gorgeous Wadsworth Ball Model Fancy Case with a mint porcelain dial and a truly mint movement!  | Circa 1930, LS, Adjusted Temp. and 5 Positions, Motor Barrel, 23 Jewels, RR Grade/Approved, here's the one you've all been asking for and everyone wants...The Illinois Ball! This very desirable Railroad has a near mint Yellow GF Stirrup Bow Case with beautifully engraved back and beautiful blued correct triple matching Illinois Ball hands. This is one of the finest examples I've seen lately of this beauty. Think hard on this one, folks... Case... is a Keystone 10K YGF marked Ball Official Railroad Standard Model with beautiful original fancy back with uninitialed chevron. No wear showing at all, and certainly no wear thru, this one was very carefully carried, and then put up. Original Correct Ball Model Case with beautiful fancy back. Dial... is the original Illinois Ball dial. Perfect...No Hairlines! Looks like a scratch under magnification at 11, too small to tell. Correct 3X matching original blued Illinois Ball hands show as new, and correct "balled" subsecond hand as well. Movement... is in near mint condition. No scratching on the motor barrell, as nice an example as I've seen. Fully marked and running well. This was the 633rd Illinois Ball made, first year production. | ||
