"B.W. Raymond" 478 Railroad
Really Nice Example
LN YGF "Streamline" Case
Last 478 Run From 1943!
| Circa 1943, Lever Set, this beautiful RR Grade/Approved BW Raymond features the 21 Jewel 3/4 plate 478 Model Movement done in nickel. Also marked "Temperature" on bottom as these later ones were, this was one of their last 478 movements made, coming in 1943 in the middle of WW2 so it is also historically significant. Approved by all rail lines...Elgin's best selling railroad watch! |
Also features an original porcelain signed Elgin "Star" dial in nice condition, one spider at 4 that cannot be seen.
Also features a very crisp "Cased and Timed By Elgin" Original Model #3056 Yellow GF Streamline Case! Case is extra nice, beautiful tight original bow, as new crown, one of the finer condition pieces like this I've seen.
Plain polished back looks great...It's a beauty all round! These were carried by railroad professionals who demanded accurate timekeeping. Good Running order, has just been fully checked and timed. Movement still like new as well...beautiful thruout!
This is in one of if not their last run of 478s.
Folks, these last 478s equipped with the "Streamline" Case are becoming one of the hardest to acquire in the Elgin line, and seldom appear looking this nice, and in a Streamliner case in such good condition. Imagine the GIs heading west to report for duty on the Santa Fe Line in 1943 and asking the conductor what time it was. More than likely he would have pulled this Streamline 478 out and told you. Neat Historic Americana here! Look it over carefully, and I'm sure you'll agree it's a fine one.
