Circa 1868, here's a beautiful American Watch Co (Early Waltham) Appleton Tracy & Co Grade 1857 Top Grade/Quality keywind with a nice gilt 15 jewel movement and a Four Ounce RM Top Quality Coin Silver Case!!

It features a hairline free dial with small flakes at 8 not really noticeable, correctly signed American Watch Company Dial and very early production date of September, 1868!

Very Few Appleton Tracy & Co Watches were made in this time period as they were quite costly and out of the reach of most of the common soldier/railwayman. The PS Bartlett and Wm Ellery 11J Keywinds of this Civil War era sold for $10-$12. These 15J Appleton Tracys sold for $42.00! This was about as good as it got in 1868.

Comes with a vintage key as well (pictured) The Case was probably custom made. Has shield on front. check out the beautiful damaskeening on the inside back and the custom damaskeened ring around the dust cover. Glass Crystal. Opens and closes perfectly and shuts tight without a gap. Good Running order, starts right up and keeps reasonable time as well. Hands set with the key and are original as well. It's running along now and has been timing close, this is a "slow beat" watch.

Grab this super nice high end Pre Commission civil war era railroad keywind before it gets away and it will move quickly at this price for this level of quality. Beautiful 150 Year Old Appleton Tracy & Co. Civil War Era Railroad Keywind from 1868!.... $275.00
