Folks, this is a very rare Rockford Cosmos Model...Double Marked Dial & Movement! This is the only one I have ever had in here in almost 25 years...they are THAT hard to come by!

Circa 1902, lever set, RR Grade, here's a beautiful Rockford Watch Co. COSMOS in it's original Sceptre Whire GF case with a highly polished back to show and enjoy...Beautiful Timepiece! Has the original Cosmos dial with one line at 3 that has survived looking fantastic, fitted with unique matching "umbrella" Crescent hands, and a beautiful 17 Jewel movement with gorgeous damaskeening and all gold screws and regulator!

These were made by Rockford and the quality shows thru. I believe all were sold to a jeweler in Michigan, and these rarely surface. Around 200 or less were ever made. It's all original. In good running order, has a nice glass crystal, I timed this and it's good to go. Would make a great gift, or a unique add to your collection.

As I say I've never had one and this one is in remarkable condition.

Top book in 2018 is $515.00 on this one.

Rockford Cosmos with a beautiful and quite rare original dial, gorgeous movement, and a knockout Sceptre 20 Yr Case... Stunning Example at a great price.......$289.00

Folks, I'll be putting all the South Bend watches here in The Studebaker category from now on...all these are so scarce and so few I want them all together.

Circa 1910, Lever Set, Adjusted to Temp & 3 Positions (5 position adjusted), gold screw down jewel settings, gold train, RR Grade this is a good find...a beautiful 217! This model is hard to find, so South Bend Collectors, here's one for your empty slot!

Case... is a screw back and front Trenton 20 Yr YGF RR Style case. Monogrammed back. Shows very nice. Crown nice and bow is tight. Just take a look...beautiful! What a suitable case to show this beauty in. Nice Crystal.

Look at that beautiful, unique damaskeening and those gold train wheels. This is the 17J version of the high grade 21 Jewel 227 and was used for trolley car and short line railroad use, and actually with the 5 position adjustment and lever setting could have been RR Approved on some rail lines.

We just fully cleaned and oiled this one, and it's timing perfectly, ready to show and enjoyed.
Folks, I haven't had many of these and they never last long when they come in. You just don't see them at all anymore, and this was just a stroke of luck coming onto this one. One in nice condition like this is a good find....these 16S South Bends are tough to find and scarcer models like this one will always be in demand. Won't last long at this price, so act quickly on this one!

Circa 1904, Lever Set, Adjusted to Railroad Positions (unmarked), marked 19 Jewels, this was one of Illinois higher grade 18 Size Railroads being produced at the time...The 19 Jewel Washington Watch Co. Grade 65 "Army & Navy" made for Montgomery Ward. These were catalog order watches, few 18S Army Navy's were produced in 19 Jewel version, really a neat find! These have all but disappeared. This one has a very low production of only 200, along with the very desirable damaskeening unique to this watch, so please give this a close look:

Case... is a YGF Hinged RR Case. It is in excellent condition, showing a fancy back. Original period crown and bow....nice glass crystal. It's a beauty!

Dial... is original DS glass enamel signed Washington Watch Co. Perfect, no hairlines. Triple matching correct original Illinois "moon" hands. Dial is priceless, folks. Beautiful Mint Washington Watch Co. Dial!

Movement... is fully marked as stated above. Extra nice condition. Beautiful 940 Type damaskeening still standing out nicely. Only 200 of this Grade 65 were ever made according to the Blue Illinois Book

This watch has been totally taken apart torn down and cleaned by a professional, like they used to do, not dumped into some ultrasonic that cannot possibly get all the parts and jewels between the plates cleaned properly. Also we fitted a new staff, 2 new jewels, polished pivots, cleaned and a new mainspring! A LOT of work done here.

She IS a beauty...and heres a rare opportunity at one. Good running order, and keeping excellent time.
Folks, here's an excellent example of a very tough to find Army & Navy. This is a very important and rare Illinois railroad, with super low production. I have seen several 21 Jewel varieties but rarely a 19 Jewel Version! These are about as good as it gets in the 18S Railroad category, and I feel are an excellent investment. Think hard...will probably never see another!........$585.00

Circa 1931, LS, adjusted to Temp. and 6 Positions, double roller, motor barrel, gold train, RR Grade/Approved, marked Grade 163 (1R), this is a landmark Illinois Bunn Special Sixty Hour 163 1R. It also features an excellent yellow gold filled Model #206 Bunn Special Case, and a beautiful scratch free movement truly like new....feast your eyes on this bad boy...I did whatever I had to in order to bring this here for your viewing enjoyment...it's quite the railroad...a truly great find...and at a great price! Very scarce near mint 163 1R 23J Sixty Hour!

Case... is a Keystone J Boss 10K yellow gold filled Model #206 Case. In beautiful condition, Plain Polished Back still shines like a mirror. The #206 Case is very hard to acquire, folks. Been carefully carried thru the years, bow swings free, crown shows some wear but still winds great. Marked Model 206 on inside back. This was one of the original "cased at the factory" cases that these watches came in. Hamilton made all of the marked grade Bunn Specials (notice the word "Co." is deleted from the Illinois Watch markings on the movement.) You'll not find a much better example.

Dial... is original double sunk Illinois bold arabic type dial marked Bunn Special on top and "23 Jewels Sixty Hour" above subseconds. One lite line below 28 sec at edge you'll never see. This marked 23 60 dial is an original dial to this watch, and this one is about as good as they get. Beautiful, clean, near mint Illinois 23 60 Dial!

Movement... is Illinois' famous Bunn Special Sixty Hour "163". It is the Type IR, marked 163 down at the bottom left of the wheel instead of near ther top as all 163s were. Also marked Adjusted Temp. and Six Positions, gold train. The movement is in mint as new condition, showing no scratches and/or deterioration. Red lettering still standing out as when new.

Only about 850 of these 1R's were ever made. Running well.

This was one of the first models to be finished by the Hamilton Watch Co.
Hamilton Watch Co. bought out Illinois in 1928, and continued to manufacture Illinois watches first in Springfield, IL, then later at the main plant in Lancaster, PA.
Folks, this about as good of an example of the 23J Sixty Hour 163 1R as exists today. These rarely if ever surface, especially the finer examples such as this one. You'll likely not ever find one of these 163 1R versions in this condition at all (this is the first I've seen in a long time). As we all know the market has softened and I was able to buy this at a far lower price than I rightfully should have, so now you can too. The last example I sold a few years back no nicer than this sold for $3,850.00!

If you're wanting one of these for your collection, this would make an excellent choice and at a great buy-in price. These Illinois mfg. by Hamilton are very special watches, sure to keep increasing in value over the years. You'll have instant equity in this one. I'd put this truly nice example up against any other. If you want simply the best, as well as a great investment you can enjoy and be glad you own, then this is for you. 23 Jewels Sixty Hour 163 1R with a beautiful and very scarce Model #206 Case and a beautiful 23 60 dial at an unheard of price!....$1795.00

Also marked "Temperature" on bottom as these later ones were, this was one of their last 478 movements made, coming in 1943 in the middle of WW2 so it is also historically significant. Approved by all rail lines...Elgin's best selling railroad watch!

Also features an original porcelain signed Elgin "Star" dial in nice condition, one spider at 4 that cannot be seen.

Also features a very crisp "Cased and Timed By Elgin" Original Model #3056 Yellow GF Streamline Case! Case is extra nice, beautiful tight original bow, as new crown, one of the finer condition pieces like this I've seen.

Plain polished back looks great...It's a beauty all round! These were carried by railroad professionals who demanded accurate timekeeping. Good Running order, has just been fully checked and timed. Movement still like new as well...beautiful thruout!

This is in one of if not their last run of 478s.

Folks, these last 478s equipped with the "Streamline" Case are becoming one of the hardest to acquire in the Elgin line, and seldom appear looking this nice, and in a Streamliner case in such good condition. Imagine the GIs heading west to report for duty on the Santa Fe Line in 1943 and asking the conductor what time it was. More than likely he would have pulled this Streamline 478 out and told you. Neat Historic Americana here! Look it over carefully, and I'm sure you'll agree it's a fine one.

Circa 1904, lever set, this is a very scarce Grade 65-E made for and marked "H.M. Jacobson & Son" on dial and movement! Jacobsen was a RR Timekeeper and Jewelry Store in Philadelphia who had special ordered Illinois and other watches specifically made just for him. This is a very scarce historical timepiece you won't want to miss.

Features of this fine railroad include 17 Jewels, Open Face Model 6, Adjusted To Temperature, four positions, isochronism, Ruby jewels in settings, Patent regulator, skewed grid pattern, gold inlaid damaskeened nickel, gold-filled engraving; polished screws Double sunk glass enamel dial marked "HM Jacobson & Son Philadelphia", RR Grade/ Approved,.

The Grade 65-E (65-Extra) has ruby jewels, making it a higher quality than grades "65" and "65-S". Some movements are marked "extra" and are marked only "Adjusted". None have been marked "Ruby jewels" but advertisements specifically state that Grade "65-E" is so equipped.

Folks, here's a really nice Grade 65 Extra Illinois...Fully Serviced and Restored...for a good price! This is a Model 6, and has a beautifully damaskeened movement in extra nice shape as you can see! These 18 size Illinois 65-E Grades in this nice of condition are very scarce. Beautiful original blued hands. Fully cleaned and timed, will come with timing papers as well. Dial... is original Hamilton porcelain arabic dial. I believe this dial to be original to the watch and correct for 1918 production. Also has the blued spade railroad hands.   Circa 1921, Lever Set, Adjusted Temp. and 5 positions, double roller, gold train, RR Grade/Approved, this is a very nice much scarcer 17 Jewel Bunn. These no nonsense railroads are tough to find, especially a beauty like this, so act quickly.

Case... is a Crescent 25 Year RR Swing Out Case with a plain polished back. Has a unique partially exposed dust cap that was factory cut under the crown! This case had to be special order, I haven't seen another like it. Nice crown and bow. Glass crystal. Unique RR Case!

Dial... is original DS glass enamel Illinois Gothic dial. One lite line below 30 at edge is all I see...shows off this Bunn really well, looks like an 18 Size dial!. This is a very scarce dial as well in 16 Size. Original "plum" Bunn hands.

Movement... is fully marked as stated above. Sun Ray Damaskeening. Looks really nice. Not all scratched up as a lot of these workhorses were. Black lettering. Good running order, has been checked and needs nothing. These were lower production timepieces and are difficult to find in this condition.

I believe this watch was specially optioned out with that CWC 25 Yr Swing Out Special Order Case with the partially exposed dustcap and the Gothic Dial specifically by a railroad man as it is set up for railroad duty and would not have been ordered this way by a civilian. And what a fine setup it is! Neat, neat railroad watch here.17J Bunn Railroad with a unique special order case and original Gothic Dial.......$379.00

Historic Waltham from 1937

JFS

Folks, it was 1937. We were on the verge of war, Amelia Earhart was lost at sea, and Waltham was trying to compete with Hamilton for the Railroad Watch market.

This watch was a new idea, a Model 1621 21 Jewel Riverside model with huge ruby jewels that were pressed in rather than set in jewel settings like always, and had excellent timekeeping ability. Waltham took it a step further tho with their Waltham Railway Special Model Dial (This was the same model they put that dial on) Hamilton promptly made them take that dial off market due to copyright infringement which they did.

They did get away with making marked 21 Jewel Blindman Montgomery Dials like this however, trying to compete with the Hamilton Illinois 21 Jewel 60 Hour and 161 Models with a 21 60 marked dial that were all the rage. Notice how closely this Blindman Monty Dial resembles a Hamilton Model!

Circa 1937, this unique watch features that new movement, the porcelain dial noted above, and a nice Keystone RGP 1930s case which may be original to the watch. it is running and timing well and as you can see looks great with that dial. I also fitted a new glass crystal as well.

If you want an historic Waltham Railroad Watch...one you can use everyday and be proud to own...this is it. Beautiful 1621/1912 21 Jewel Waltham Riverside Railroad!......$265.00

Folks, the 19 Jewel Railroads have long been my favorite, and for good reason...some of the companies finest, highest quality railroads were 19 Jewel! The 16 and 18 Size 19J Bunn, 16S 19J Sangamo Special (Illinois' finest), The Hampden 16S 19J Railway, and this beauty here all were among the best. This Waltham is built like a tank, and you have to listen to this beauty run to appreciate how good it was made, and see for yourself the quality that's second to none. Check it out...

Circa 1915, here's a beautiful high grade Waltham 19 Jewel Vanguard with a hairline free original double sunk dial in fine condition! This one has all the bells and whistles and also features a high grade 19 jewel movement with the diamond end stone! This is the 1908 model, and was their highest grade railroad watch, competing with the Illinois 19J Sangamo Special! Top of the line in 1915! Original Railroad Dial has no hairlines! One small outer edge flake by lever under bezel is all I see. This one too fairly screams "railroad". Also features a beautiful Sceptre Gold Filled Case in excellent condition with a beautiful fancy back and original crown and tight bow...this one was little used thru the years and it shows...Stunning Case! This watch was obviously litely carried by a professional who knew how to treat his watch...still in excellent shape! Movement still shows new as well, featuring gold screw down jewel settings, adjusted to 5 positions and running well.

Folks, if there was ever a time to salt some of these investment grade railroads away, this is the time! I bought this beautiful 950 hundreds under the money, and now you can too! One only, first come, first served!

Circa 1914, Lever Set, Adjusted 5 positions, double roller, motor barrel, gold train, RR Grade/Approved, this is a very nice low production Hamilton 950 with a solid gold train! This high grade timepiece also features a mint original Hamilton porcelain Montgomery dial, and a beautiful Star Watch Co Yellow GF Fancy Back Model Case! It's a beautiful example of a hard to find early 950, folks. Don't miss this one, especially at this special price!

Case... is a yellow gold filled Star Model 25 Yr case in excellent condition with an engine turned back. Shows no wear thru, little lower lite pocket wear is all. Nice tight original bow and crown, new glass crystal. Beautiful Case.

Movement...is fully marked as stated above and in excellent crisp condition as seen in the picture. Fitted with the gold train. Beautiful Damaskeening! Lettering still looks new. To find one any better you'd truly have to have a time machine. Running very well, has been completely checked and timed.
Folks, this was Hamiltons best in a 23 Jewel Railroad watch in 1914, and produced in very low numbers. They were carried by upper echelon railroad personnel who demanded accurate timekeeping, as they were out of reach price wise for the railroad man working the line. It is one of the most desirable and hardest to find Hamilton Railroads! Has all the nice features as well....Beautiful fancy green GF case, finest condition movement avaiilable with the gold train, and a mint original porcelain double sunk dial. What a look!

2018 Book on this fine watch is $730-$1200-$1800.

These are an excellent investment, especially one that looks like this! In this price range why settle for a "made up" one that you will not be happy with? This one is a solid investment, as well as one of the most beautiful railroads you'll ever own. Will be one of the highlights of your Hamilton Railroad Collection. Judge this one for yourself, and, like me, you'll have to agree it's well worth owning. You'll not likely find a better early example at any price.
