JFS

Circa 1910, LS, Adjusted 5 positions, Diamond End Stone, RR Grade/Approved, here's a beautiful Waltham "Vanguard" with the wind indicator option in the Original Plain Polished J Boss RR Case! Case is marked J Boss 20 Year as seen in pics and is in excellent condition front and back, tight bow, like new crown. It is original to the watch with one lever cut at 11 probably made by the jeweler that sold it in 1910...wow...sweet. Glass Crystal. This one also features the original porcelain RR WI dial with the unique semi circle below the wind indicator bit. Dial has several hairlines and flake at 12 hence the low price but still very presentable as you can see. Nice original hands. Also features a beautiful movement with the diamond end stone, lever set of course, marked "Vanguard", "23 Jewels", and "Adjusted 5 Positions". These were the best Vanguard Indicators Waltham made.

Truly like new movement. Fully checks out to RR specs. These earlier ones with the diamond end stone are in my opinion the better higher quality examples. Movement also has the beautiful screwed down gold center wheel jewel. Running well, we fully took the watch down, polished all the jewels, and installed a new mainspring as well. Really one you can wear, display and show, and at a great price! Now is the time to buy yourself a Wind Indicator, prices are at their low, and this one has it all...I've sold ones like this for up to $1400.00!

Low rough book is $800 on these, top book is $1450.00!!

Outstanding loaded 23 Jewel Vanguard Wind Indicator with the diamond end stone and a knockout J Boss French Bow Case at a giveaway price!.........$549.00

Circa 1901, Lever Set, Adjusted to 5 positions, sunken balance, Diamond End Stone, Marked 21 Jewels, RR Grade/Approved this is one of Waltham's most beautiful Model 92s...The 21 Jewel Vanguard! This was the pinnacle of Waltham's railroad efforts in my opinion...built like a tank...diamond end stone...able to withstand severe railroad applications. This is a "real world" railroad built for exacting timekeeping....as good as they get! And feast your eyes on this killer case!

Case... is a really nice Phila 20 Yr YGF with a Bucking Bronco about to throw the rider off on back. This is Wyoming's State Logo. Hard to find a double figure engraved case at all let alone this beauty. Logo is in great shape, good detail present as you can see. Nice sharp crown and tight bow. Beautiful 18S RR "Buckin' Bronco" Case!

Dial... is double sunk Waltham Model 92 with full Montgomery features. It is perfect, still shows as new. Super clean, as is the rest of this beauty! Beautiful, like new correct hands as well. Case... is a Wadsworth 14K gold filled Model 29 Case signed Bunn Special. In excellent clean condition, Plain Polished Back with monogram still shows almost like new. Original Crown and Bow. This was one of the original "cased at the factory" cases that these watches came in. Black lettering still standing out as when new. Only a few of these fine railroads were made between 1932-1948. One of the last Illinois railroad watches ever to be manufactured by Hamilton! Running well.
Hamilton Watch Co. bought out Illinois in 1928, and continued to manufacture Illinois watches first in Springfield, IL, then later at the main plant in Lancaster, PA. I hope you can appreciate the significance of this fine timepiece. After this no more were ever to be manufactured again. Folks, this is a very nice example of the 21J Sixty Hour 161A. These are about gone from the marketplace, especially nicer examples such as these, no one wants to sell anything this nice, and consequently prices have continued to go up on nice ones like this. If you're wanting one of these for your collection, this would make an excellent choice. These Illinois mfg. by Hamilton are very special watches, sure to keep increasing in value over the years. Circa 1904, here's an 18 size Elgin Grade 335 hunter in running order for only $179.00!! If there was ever a "good carrying watch" this is it! Look at that Keystone J Boss 20 Yr YGF Case...Has a nice adorned shield on front and a bird in flight on back...nice tight bow good crown. Tastefully personalized dust cover. Opens and closes properly, front springs open as it should. Wow! Still looking good & ready to do its job. Dial and hands are original and in good shape. Has the beautiful "Fleur De Lis" hands that came on higher grade movements of this quality and double sunk dial with a few lite hairlines that I'm sure would wash out. Movement is a Grade 335 17 Jewel with the Veritas Type Regulator. It takes right off and has good motion, has not been serviced or timed, should probably have that done if you're going to carry it. We can also do that for you for a modest fee, or clean yourself. It's just a good example of a decent 18 size hunter...but at this price it's a steal!

Complete Elgin 18S Grade 335 Hunter in good shape from 1904. Only......$179.00

Circa 1950, Lever Set, this beautiful RR Grade/Approved BW Raymond features the 21 Jewel 3/4 plate 571 Model Movement done in nickel. Also marked "8 Adjustments", their last 21 jewel movement model made, approved by all rail lines...Elgin's best selling railroad watch! Also features an original porcelain signed Elgin BW Raymond dial in perfect condition, signed with Elgin's famous "Durapower Mainspring" logo as well!

Also features a very crisp "Cased and Timed By Elgin" Original Model #3056 marked Yellow GF Streamline Case! Case is extra nice, beautiful original bow, one of the finer condition pieces like this I've seen. Plain polished back looks great...It's a beauty all round! These were carried by railroad professionals who demanded accurate timekeeping. Good Running order, has just been fully checked and timed. Movement still like new as well...beautiful thruout!

Elgin made three types of this 571. Type "A", not marked BW Raymond, Type "B", marked BW Raymond and adjusted 8 Positions, and Type "C", adjusted to 9 Positions.

This is an early 1950 variant Type "B", marked BW Raymond on movement but with the Elgin "DP" dial (denoting the durapower mainspring.) Folks, this 571 is becoming one of the hardest to acquire in the Elgin line, and seldom appear looking this nice, and in a Streamliner case in such good condition.

These rarely surface anymore, this was Elgin's last American railroad model, and their best. Imagine heading west on the Canadian Railway Line in the 1950s, and asking the conductor what time it was. More than likely he would have pulled this Streamliner 571 out and told you. Neat Americana here. Look it over carefully, and I'm sure you'll agree it's a fine one.

Folks, I've only seen this Riverside variant once before...a rare pendant set Model 92 railroad watch!....take a hard look at it...Circa 1899, Pendant Set, Adjusted to 5 positions, sunken balance, Marked 17 Jewels, RR Grade this is one of Waltham's most beautiful Model 92s...The 17 Jewel Riverside! This was the pinnacle of Waltham's railroad efforts in my opinion...built like a tank....able to withstand severe railroad applications. This is a "real world" railroad built for exacting timekeeping and this is only the second pendant set variant example I've seen...

Case... is a Hudson 20 Yr YGF with a fancy back. Shows light carrying wear but looks great. Good bow and crown. Glass Crystal.

Dial... is double sunk correct American Waltham Watch Co with Arabic numerals. Perfect...no hairlines. Super Clean. As nice an example as you'll find...Original matching Waltham spade hands. Nice impossible to find Riverside Model 92 Dial!

Movement... has the beautiful sunken balance, starburst regulator,, safety (motor) barrel, beautiful screwed down gold jewel settings, and gorgeous high grade "Chrome" rachet wheels with beautiful damaskeening and gold screws....what a blazer! Pendant set RR version marked "17 Jewels" and "adjusted" (5 positions). Running and timing well.

Only 500 of these pendant set versions of this high grade watch were made between 1898-1900. I'm sure only a few survive today. I had only seen one like this until this one, and I've looked at literally thousands of Walthams thru the years.

JFS

Circa 1958, LS, Adjusted 6 positions, double roller, motor barrel, Elinvar Hairspring, RR Grade/Approved, this is a very nice, truly like new Hamilton 950B! This high grade timepiece also features an original Hamilton dial marked "RR Special 23 Jewel", and the original Model "17" YGF Bar Over Crown Case in like new condition. Some have tried to fake these by putting in gold trains, calling wrong dials and cases correct, etc.
The only correct later model American example has the marked 23J dial and the Model 17 Case! It's a excellent like new example of a 950B, folks, all original. You'll be hard pressed to find a nicer one unless it's still in the box. Don't miss this one!

Case... is a gold filled Hamilton Model 17 bar over crown case in excellent crisp condition. Original sand marks still remain on back. New deep domed glass crystal as well. Has personalization on inside back with the owners birth date and other number as was the custom back then. Other than that case looks new. Original Model 17 Hamilton Case in superior condition.

Dial... is original Hamilton melamine dial signed RR Special and 23 Jewels. This dial is original to the watch, as well as the only correct dial. No lines or crazing at all. Red Montgomery numerals are a bit faded as some got due to sunlight. Original triple matching correct black hands complete the package. Beautiful Original 23J RR Special Melamine Dial.

Movement...is fully marked as stated above and in mint plus condition. As nice as I've ever seen! Beautiful Damaskeening! Lettering still looks new. This one was made in late 50s or 1960. Book says 30000 is the last.

This one, however stands on its condition. "Wow" was all I could say when I found it! Running very well, has been completely checked and timed.
Folks, this was Hamiltons best in a 23 Jewel Railroad watch, and produced in very low numbers. It is all original, and one of the most desirable and hardest to find Hamilton Railroads! Has all the most desirable (and correct) features as well..LN Model 17 case, finest condition movement available, and an original double sunk signed 23 Jewel Railway Special Monty Dial. These 950B's are tough enough to find, and rarely surface in this condition nowadays. This is unequivocably one of the newer and finer examples of any 950B that has come thru here in the last 12 years!

Book has an "up" arrow indicating high interest and further price increases! Because of the few minor items noted above, I was able to get this one at a discount and am passing the savings along to you.
These are an excellent investment, especially an all original near mint one like this! In this price range why settle for a "made up" one that you will not be happy with? This one is a solid investment, as well as one of the most beautiful railroads you'll ever own. Will be the highlight of your Hamilton Railroad Collection. Judge this one for yourself, and, like me, you'll have to agree it's well worth owning. Rare late model 950B in all original like new condition..As nice an example as you'll probably ever find ...and at a price well under low book!......$985.00

Case... is a J. Boss Square Bow Yellow GF Mainliner Style case. Beautiful fancy back not often seen on these earlier cases. Excellent condition. Nice Glass Crystal. Looks original to the watch. These earlier Bunn Specials did not come in factory cases. Beautiful Fancy Back Case!

Dial... is original Illinois double sunk glass enamel. Correct straight line Illinois logo. Looks to be perfect. No hairlines. Beautiful plum Bunn type RR hands. Shows very well. Beautiful condition Illinois dial!

Movement... is also in like new condition. Beautiful gold lettering still standing out as when it was new. Temperature is spelled out, not abbreviated as in later models. Marked Jeweled Barrel over barrel bridge. Not many of these were produced, and they are seldom seen anymore. Same movement powers the famous Illinois Ball that sells for over $3500! Super nice condition movement, running and timing very well!
Folks, these 23J Bunn Specials (especially ones marked jeweled barrel) are becoming quite hard to find in today's marketplace, most having been put up long ago in private collections. You can't lose collecting these at this point in time. Down the road you'll be happy for making the decision today. Top book now $1100. I sold the last one like this for $895, this one is very fairly priced and would make an excellent gift or addition to your Illinois collection. Beautiful 23J Bunn Special marked Jeweled Barrel with an extra nice movement, fancy Mainliner case, and beautiful straight line Illinois dial. Only......$OLD

Circa 1902, Lever Set, Marked Adjusted, marked 17 RUBY Jewels, RR Grade/Approved, this was one of Illinois higher grade 18 Size Railroads being produced at the time...The 17 Ruby Jewel "BUNN"! These have all but disappeared, this one has a very low 4,500 production, along with the very desirable pink ribbon wavy damaskeening and that gorgeous Locomotive Case, so please give this a close look...

Case... is a beautiful ALASKA SILVER screw back RR Case. Features a solid rose gold applied locomotive on back! Unusual in that it also has an engraved trestle and other scenes on there as well. This type is never seen out there and very sought after. Really a knockout Case! It is in excellent condition, engraving on train still very crisp. Original period crown and bow....beautiful thick glass crystal. It's a beauty!

Dial... is original DS glass enamel Gothic. Perfect, no hairlines noted. Triple matching original Illinois hands. Dial is priceless, folks. Beautiful Mint Illinois Gothic Dial!

Movement... is fully marked as stated above. Marked 17 ruby Jewels. Extra nice condition, no scratches. Pink Ribbon wavy damaskeening still standing out nicely. Only 4,500 of this type were ever made! Good running order, has just been cleaned, new mainspring, and all pivots were polished including the staff so it runs stright and true. No expense was spared on this beauty! Keeping excellent time as it should.
Folks, here's an excellent example of a very tough to find Bunn 17 Ruby Jewel Railroad watch. This is a very important and rare Illinois railroad, with low production. I can count the number of these I've seen on one hand (and I own one of those!) These are about as good as it gets in the 18S Railroad category, and I feel are an excellent investment. Plus that gorgeous Rose Gold Locomotive Case! Has it all....Think hard...will be awhile before another this nice crosses my desk!........$OLD

Circa 1931, LS, Adjusted to Temp. and 6 Positions, double roller, motor barrel, gold train, RR Grade/Approved, marked Grade 163, this is a landmark Illinois Bunn Special Sixty Hour 163. It also features a rare two tone Green/White gold filled Model #28 Bunn Special Case, and a beautiful scratch free movement truly like new....feast your eyes on this bad boy...I did whatever I had to in order to bring this here for your viewing enjoyment...it's quite the railroad....and at a great price! Very hard to find fully optioned 163 23J Sixty Hour!

Case... is a Keystone Bunn Special Two Tone "Angel Wing" 14K Green/White gold filled Model #28 Case. Green gold body and white gold back and bezel. Does show some pocket wear on back and bezel and some wear thru on body from being carried but still looks great. Plain Polished Back still shines. The Two Tone Model 28 Case is very hard to acquire, folks. Beautiful tight bow and good crown. Case numbers all match. Marked "Bunn Special" Model 28 on inside back. This was one of the original "cased at the factory" cases that these watches came in. Hamilton made all of the marked grade Bunn Specials (notice the word "Co." is deleted from the Illinois Watch markings on the movement.) You'll not find a more fully loaded example.

Dial... is original double sunk Illinois bold arabic montgomery type dial also known as the "Flying J" Dial. Marked Bunn Special 23J on top and "Sixty Hour Six Positions" above subseconds. This was their top of the line dial...the best ever made! One hl at 8 and a couple lite marks but shows very well as you can see. This Flying J dial is one of the rarest and hardest to find of all Illinois' dials, folks, and this one is in nice condition. Beautiful, clean Illinois Flying J Montgomery Dial!

Movement... is Illinois' famous Bunn Special Sixty Hour. It is the Type I, marked 23 Jewels and 163 on barrel bridge. Also marked Adjusted Temp. and Six Positions, gold train. The movement is in mint as new condition, showing no scratches and/or deterioration. Red lettering still standing out as when new. Only 3,800 of these fine railroads were made. Running well.

This was the first model to be finished by the Hamilton Watch Co.
Hamilton Watch Co. bought out Illinois in 1928, and continued to manufacture Illinois watches first in Springfield, IL, then later at the main plant in Lancaster, PA.
Folks, this is a very scarce fully loaded example of the 23J Sixty Hour 163. These are about gone from the marketplace, especially the scarcer combination teo tone case/flying J dial examples such as these, no one wants to sell them, and consequently prices have skyrocketed on examples like this one. You'll likely not ever find one of these 163 versions such as this at all. (this is the first I've seen in a long time and the first ever flying J dial example I've had). It has been proudly carried and maintained. If you're wanting one of these for your collection, this would make an excellent choice. These Illinois mfg. by Hamilton are very special watches, sure to keep increasing in value over the years. If you want simply the scarcest most elusive example to find, then this is for you. 23 Jewels Sixty Hour Type I 163 with a beautiful and very scarce Two Tone Model #28 Case and a rare "Flyin J" Montgomery dial at a great price!....$OLD

Circa 1906, LS, adjusted 5 positions, double roller, RR Grade/Approved,Here's one of my favorite Hampdens...The 19 Jewel Railway! this is as nice an example as I've ever seen! These 19J Railways were some of Hampden's best designed watches. They were made to compete head on with the 19J Sangamo Special, the 19J Bunn, and the 19J B.W. Raymond. In that class, they had to be good!

IMO there's not many better running railroad watches than a well tuned 19J Railway.

Stunning Philadelphia Victory White Gold Filled "Square Bow" Case with a Ball Type Crown and a fancy back, dial is perfect, beautiful matching hands.

Movement still retains all of it's original lustre, as you can see it's near museum quality and running well, no service records, fully marked "Adjusted to Five Positions", "double roller", and "safety barrel" with the patent number. Beautiful "snowflake" damaskeening still shows new. Great piece to show and enjoy, doubtful you'll ever find a nicer example.

So, here's a chance at a scarcer Hampden 19J Railway that is among the finest you'll ever acquire. Don't wait too long for this beauty, as ones like this seldom if ever reappear. Near Museum Quality 19J "Railway".......$OLD
