The "No. 348" Railroader
Beautiful Nickel Movement
Stunning YGF Fancy Case
Scarce Lo Production Hunter!
| || Circa 1904, LS, Marked adjusted, (5 Positions) RR Grade/Approved,this is a rare Elgin #348 true railroad hunter with a beautiful nickel movement and a crisp YGF fancy hunter case! These are really hard to find, folks, I've had less than 5 in almost 10 years! The brother to the #349, it's a true railroad in hunter form. Check it out carefully, you'll not get many opportunities at one... |
Case...is a really nice yellow gold filled Philadelphia 20 Yr fancy hunter case. Uninitialed shield on front, engine turned on rear, nice and crisp. Opens and closes properly, hinges super tight, just a beauty. Nice crown and bow, Glass Crystal. Looks Great on this watch! Just a honey of a case here.
Dial... is original Elgin double sunk roman dial. Perfect, no hairlines that I can see. Nice original blued hands. Perfect Original Railroad Dial!
Movement... is still like new as well on this fine timepiece. It features a high grade regulator, marked adjusted. Running along nicely and timing well, has not been serviced. Another of Elgin's most beautiful, highly damaskeened movements.
The 348 was made only 3 years, 1903-05, and only 3698 were ever made, very low production for an Elgin.
